Save both names at an interchange
If your hotel says Asok but a map shows Sukhumvit, check which transport system each name belongs to before assuming the directions conflict. A useful connection can have two different station names. It does not mean an automatic platform-to-platform transfer or a free integrated fare. Allow for gates, the connecting walk and obtaining the next ticket. If a group becomes separated, a specific meeting exit is more useful than agreeing only to meet at the station.

Check coverage before buying a card or pass
Possessing a card or pass does not establish that every other railway and boat accepts it. Check the covered services, validity and currently accepted payment method before buying. Compare a day pass with the trips you genuinely expect to make and their individual fares; choosing convenience is not necessarily the same as choosing the cheapest total. Decide who keeps each passenger’s ticket, and retain anything needed to pass through the exit gate rather than discarding it during the journey.
At the pier, say where you need to go
Where services meet, such as Sathorn, confirm the destination pier and whether you need a point-to-point ride or the offered sightseeing product. First distinguish crossing to the opposite bank from travelling several stops along the river. That avoids buying a service which solves the wrong journey. Follow the queue and boarding instructions on site, keeping access areas clear instead of standing there for photographs. Once the useful last departure has gone, a different way home is necessary.
Check the last usable connection, not a headline time
A line’s general operating window or a customer-service office’s hours are not your last departure. Check the train from your station in your direction, then the onward service you still need. A lift listed among station facilities is useful information, but verify the usable exit and any current outage if you depend on it. When the final hotel walk is difficult, compare a vehicle for that leg instead of adding transfers merely to remain on public transport.
