Read the verbs, not the island count
Four Islands programmes vary in their named stops and sequence. The operator example checked here includes Phra Nang Beach, but that does not turn it into a separate fourth offshore island. In the Hong programme, Lading and Pak Bia are described as sightseeing cruises, so do not infer a swim or lunch ashore there. Mark the itinerary’s verbs: land, cruise, snorkel or pass. This separates a listing with many destination photographs from a trip that actually gives you time in the place you want.

Build a total beyond the advertised fare
Both Ao Nang Travel speedboat examples checked here list park fees separately. Do not extend that condition to every seller or boat type. Write a total for your date covering adult and child categories, park entry, any pickup-area surcharge and equipment beyond what is supplied. Included insurance still needs its coverage and exclusions checked. Ask whether a higher price buys fewer passengers or a different vessel, or is merely a difference between sales channels. Without those answers, the cheapest headline is not a reliable comparison.
Tide and sea conditions change the sequence
The Tub Island sandbar depends on low-tide conditions; a morning departure alone does not guarantee that walking scene. Lagoon access and snorkelling stops may also change. Clear water, abundant fish and an empty beach in promotional images are not fixed product specifications. Non-swimmers should ask whether they wait aboard or stay on a beach, and families should check appropriately sized life jackets. Assess suitability against the actual vessel and personal circumstances, not simply a “family” label in the title.
Choose one well-matched trip
On a short stay, pick one essential experience rather than filling consecutive days with similar sea outings. For the sandbar, verify tides and the intended stop; for Hong, ask how much time is actually spent there. When comparing two sellers, match operator, vessel and option. A changed stop and a cancelled departure are different events, so save the corresponding change and refund terms separately. Leave an onward-travel buffer instead of attaching a flight directly to the advertised return time.
