1. Make the flights and six hotel nights fit
Write your arrival airport, landing time, departure airport and departure time at the top of the plan. A flight marketed as a Korea trip does not automatically give you a convenient Busan exit. Compare the complete transport cost before choosing an open-jaw ticket; this itinerary does not assume that such a flight exists from your home city.
For the main version, sleep in Seoul on nights one to three and Busan on nights four to six. Keep one accommodation in each city. Choose Busan Station or Nampo for a western-city emphasis, or Haeundae for more time by the beach; neither puts every Busan attraction on your doorstep.
2. Days one to three: settle in, then explore Seoul
Day one is for immigration, reaching your hotel and eating near it. A short neighborhood walk is optional; avoid a prepaid evening activity after an uncertain arrival. On day two, make Gyeongbokgung and Insadong your historic-city cluster. Check the palace calendar before assigning the weekday, and swap the museum day into this slot if necessary.
Day three can center on the National Museum of Korea at 137 Seobinggo-ro, Yongsan. Select galleries rather than attempting everything, then return toward your hotel for dinner. Its permanent exhibitions are free, but closures matter: September 7 and September 25, 2026 are not ordinary gallery-visiting days. Paid special exhibitions have separate terms.
3. Day four: treat KTX as a moving day
Reserve Seoul to Busan on KORAIL using your real travel date. Read the departure station, service, reserved seats and cancellation conditions; a pass is not itself a seat reservation. Do not replace the displayed train time with a universal journey duration from a blog. Keep the confirmation accessible without relying on hotel Wi-Fi.
Check out, travel to Seoul Station with luggage and leave time to locate the platform. After the train, continue to your Busan hotel and ask about check-in or bag storage. An easy walk and a meal near that hotel are enough for the afternoon. Do not attach several distant attractions to a day already containing two hotel transfers.
4. Days five and six: split east and west Busan
Use day five for the Haeundae beachfront and, when conditions suit, a short Dongbaek-side walk. This is a coastal sightseeing day, not a promise that swimming is permitted. If you add a coastal train or Sky Capsule, check its own boarding point and reservation separately; it is not included in your KTX ticket.
Use day six for Gamcheon Culture Village and the Nampo area. The village information center is at 203 Gamnae 2-ro. Hills, steps and residential lanes make it a different outing from a flat beach promenade. Take breaks, respect homes and avoid treating alleys as a photo set. In heavy rain, shorten or replace the hillside portion.
5. Day seven, or the Incheon round-trip adjustment
If you depart from Busan, day seven is an airport day with only optional time near your hotel. Confirm the actual airport and airline check-in deadline. An international departure is not the moment to discover that your accommodation is far from the transport you intended to use.
If your flight leaves Incheon, return to Seoul on day six and sleep there that night. Keep either Haeundae or the western Busan route, rather than compressing both into the remaining day. We do not recommend relying on a tightly timed Busan–Seoul–airport connection for an international flight. A late flight may offer spare time, but the airline deadline still controls your plan.
6. Reserve the essentials and leave room to change
Book accommodation and the intercity journey first, then any genuinely timed attraction. Keep meals and neighborhood walks flexible. Before paying, compare the date, number of travelers, ticket type and cancellation rules; this route is an editorial suggestion, not a bundled tour or a quoted total holiday price.
Your final checklist is six hotel nights, a usable airport route at both ends, the correct KTX date, opening-day checks and one indoor backup in each city. Traveling with children, limited mobility or large luggage? Remove an outing before adding private transport to rescue an overloaded schedule. A satisfying week does not require adding Jeju or a third overnight city.
