Do not plan around an old temporary-hall photograph
The shrine notice checked on 6 September 2026 describes temporary-hall dismantling and paving work in front of the main hall. Worship is directed to a designated position before the work area; the old tree-covered temporary hall is not a promised current attraction.
The notice gives around 20 September as a planned resumption, not a guaranteed reopening. Recheck even for a later visit. Ordinary worship and a formal prayer ceremony have different arrangements.
Keep the two Futsukaichi stations distinct
Start from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin), not the subway platform itself. Search the connection through Nishitetsu Futsukaichi onto the Dazaifu Line. JR Futsukaichi is not the same in-station transfer point.
From a Hakata hotel, include the approach to Tenjin. A bus may suit your location, but check the actual boarding stop and timetable. An airport-international bus listing does not identify your Hakata boarding point; allow a road-traffic margin.
Choose between a shrine walk and a museum visit
A walk from the station along the approach street is a different half day from reading a museum exhibition. The table suggests priorities, not official visit durations. Leaving the museum a tiny gap after lunch and shopping rarely serves an exhibition-focused visit.
If the exhibition is the reason for coming, fix its visiting window first. If the shrine is the priority, keep the museum optional. Add further temples or hiking only after protecting rest and return time.

The museum entry deadline comes before closing
The checked regular hours are 9:30–17:00, with admission ending at 16:30. Monday is normally closed, moving to the following day for a national or substitute holiday. Check the date calendar rather than applying old Friday/Saturday evening information universally.
Regular adult admission to the Cultural Exchange Exhibition is ¥700; special exhibitions have separate pricing. Check ticket inclusions and proof for concessions. Being allowed to enter near closing does not leave enough time for an unhurried visit.
Leave enough time to get back to the station
The return begins at your last stop, not at the railway platform. A restaurant’s last order, museum admission cutoff and train departure are different deadlines. Decide which extra stop you will drop if you have a dinner booking in Fukuoka.
Save the works notice, museum calendar, correct departure station and return route. With a wheelchair or stroller, confirm usable ramps and lifts with the facilities; the shortest walking route is not automatically accessible. On-site safety signs take priority over photographs.
