Give each day a clear centre
Leave meal and rest gaps between these blocks instead of filling every hour. Put a performance after the main walking, then move dinner around the session actually booked.
If arrival is late, reduce the first day to a meal near the hotel and a short walk. See the lake the next morning and choose one history visit that afternoon; this keeps the key experiences without relocating every missed stop to day two. On departure day, account for collecting stored luggage as well as reaching the airport. Avoid booking onward travel immediately after a performance. This shortened version is a fresh allocation of the time you really have, not an attempt to compensate for delay by walking faster.

Choose the history you want to engage with
Choose Thang Long for royal heritage and archaeology, or Hoa Lo for prison history and its interpretation. Hoa Lo is not simply a backdrop for photographs: imprisonment and repression are central subjects. Read the exhibition introduction before deciding to visit with children.
Reorder the day for weather
Move outdoor walking into the better part of the day and place exhibitions or meals between walks. An indoor museum does not make the journey to it sheltered. Check drop-off access, closure notices and last admission for your visit date.
Book in the right order
Fix your hotel and onward departure first, then reserve timed activities such as performances. Distinguish a street walk from admission to individual paid sites. Add chosen admissions and performance tickets to room, meal and transport quotes; leave a separate airport-transfer buffer.
