Where to Stay in Da Nang: My Khe Beach or the Han River?

GollabaSource checked: Editorial review:
The short answer

Start near My Khe if frequent beach visits are central to the trip, or around the Han River if city meals and riverside walks matter more. Neither area puts every attraction within walking distance. Choose around the outing you will repeat each day rather than a single airport transfer, and check the route from the hotel entrance instead of relying on straight-line distance.

Place the repeated journey nearby

If you want to walk on the beach, shower in your room and head out again, a short round trip has real value. If the beach is a single excursion while city meals and the riverfront recur, a riverside base may make more sense. Before booking, write down your likely morning, afternoon and evening activities. The area appearing repeatedly is a stronger clue to your useful base than a generic “best location” label.

Read the view claim carefully

Check whether reaching the beach means crossing a major road and which entrance you will use. A sea-view room does not automatically mean direct sand access or an exclusive beach area. A riverside property can also have rooms facing different directions or floors with different outlooks. If noise matters, relate recent reviews to room location, and distinguish a guaranteed quiet-room category from a request the hotel will merely try to honour.

Compare the stay, not the nightly headline

Add taxes, breakfast, any extra bed and repeated local journeys to the room price. Included breakfast has little value if every tour leaves before you can eat it. Changing hotels also uses time for checkout, moving bags and waiting for the next room. For a short Da Nang stay, compare one base with excursions to the other area against splitting the booking, rather than assuming two hotels deliver twice the experience.

Test the bad-weather version

Weather and local instructions can change a swimming plan. Would the room, dining options and indoor rest space still suit you on a day when beach use is unsuitable? If a pool or family facility is decisive, ask about current operation and access eligibility. Save the exact room name, occupancy, cancellation deadline and address before payment so the area you chose becomes the booking you intended.

  • Match the base to your repeated activity
  • Check entrance, road crossing and booked room view
  • Save total cost, facilities and cancellation terms
