Check the arrival pier, not just the island name
Na Ban is a village-side arrival, so your chosen beach may require a separate transfer. A Tawaen arrival is a candidate when that beach is the purpose of the day. At purchase, ask for the pier name and whether the fare covers one way or a return, not simply “Koh Larn.” Reaching Bali Hai still leaves ticket collection, waiting and boarding; sailing time alone is not a hotel-to-beach journey estimate. Save the current departure board and check whether the return pier is actually specified on your booking.

Spend a good day at one beach
For a first trip, select Tawaen, Tien or Samae around your priorities and include lunch and recovery time. A chance to dry off and rest may be more useful than collecting several beach names. An official description of clear water or a quiet setting does not promise the same visibility or crowd level on your date. Ask before using chairs, umbrellas, showers and toilets because these need not be included in the crossing fare. With children, distinguish play areas from boat traffic and follow the beach’s instructions on the day.
A crossing ticket is not a packaged day
A basic boat ticket does not automatically include hotel pickup, lunch or water activities. A speedboat can mean shared seats or an exclusive vessel; establish which one you are buying. Compare return sea travel, mainland and island transfers, food and mandatory extras on the same basis before deciding that one offer is cheaper. We do not present fares on an undated public-agency page as guaranteed prices available today. Nor should a plan depend on learning to ride an unfamiliar scooter merely to avoid paying for an island vehicle.
Let the return shape the day
On arrival, confirm your return departure and the vehicle back to its pier. Leave room to come home before the final sailing instead of depending on one last boat. Avoid attaching a tightly timed flight or long-distance connection to the same afternoon. Before boarding, check for a suitable life jacket and follow crew instructions; keep your phone and tickets protected from water. If a crossing is cancelled or conditions become rough, ask about a safe alternative and the applicable refund terms rather than continuing to shop for another boat willing to sail.
