Ask again if the quote has no vessel identity
Yacht, catamaran and speedboat describe craft, not whether your group has exclusive use. Request the actual vessel or a defined substitution standard, photographs, passenger numbers and crewing arrangements in the booking record. Legal passenger capacity and comfortable lounging space are different questions. Check shade, seats, toilets, reboarding ladder and children’s life jackets to compare the day you will experience rather than photographic luxury. Match the marina and check-in point on a map instead of relying on “Pattaya departure”.
Time buys a usable day, not a list of islands
The checked operator distinguishes two-, four-, six- and eight-hour packages. A short time on the water differs from an outing with swimming and island landings. Ask how much is spent sailing and at anchor rather than assuming every photographed island is included. Establish when charter time starts and whether late boarding changes the end time. A vessel with sails does not promise sail-only propulsion throughout the trip; operation depends on wind and route. Sunset is also a natural condition, not a guarantee that your photographs will match the advertisement.
Calculate the charter total before dividing it
The numbers below are invented to demonstrate arithmetic, not a selling price or market average. Assume all amounts include taxes, then add the boat, return vehicle and optional meal. Dividing by eight produces 3,000 THB per person; if two people drop out while the boat price stays fixed, the per-person figure changes. For a real quote, check crew, fuel, marina and island charges, drinks, equipment and overtime. One company’s inclusive pricing must not be assumed to apply to another seller.
| Invented item | THB |
|---|---|
| Whole boat | 20,000 |
| Return vehicle | 2,000 |
| Optional meal | 2,000 |
| Party total | 24,000 |
| Per person with 8 people | 3,000 |
Separate weather cancellation from personal cancellation
A customer cancelling because rain is forecast may be treated differently from a captain cancelling for safety. Ask separately about rescheduling, charter refunds, payment fees and outside catering or decoration costs. One operator’s reviewed terms, for example, treat payment-processing fees separately on cancellation. That is not an industry-wide rule: save the terms from your own seller. Finalise names, pickup, balance and contacts, and accept the captain’s safety-based route decisions rather than pressing for a more distant island against that advice.
- Confirm exclusive use, actual vessel and passenger terms
- Match marina, duration, anchoring and landings
- Save the whole-party total and scenario-specific refunds
