Even a checked price has a limited scope
Noi Bai’s listed 50,000 VND fare for bus 86 is per passenger. Two people making that one journey would total 100,000 VND, but the last connection to a hotel may still be separate. Likewise, check whether a car quote covers the vehicle or each passenger, and whether a cruise price is per cabin or person. For trains, record the amount for your date and seat rather than building an old promotion into every journey.
Worked example: two people, seven days, one room for six nights
All figures are VND and deliberately invented inputs for illustrating the method, not researched market prices. Assume 900,000 per room-night, 350,000 per person-day for meals and small spending, 1,800,000 in ground transport for the pair and 1,200,000 in activities per person for the whole trip. The subtotal is 14,500,000; an illustrative 10% reserve makes 15,950,000. International and domestic flights, visas, insurance and shopping are excluded and must be added separately to your complete personal budget.

Replace assumptions in a useful order
Start with comparable room quotes, including taxes and cancellation terms, then price transport from those properties. Remove duplicate meal or transfer allowances when a chosen tour includes lunch or pickup. For quotes in another currency, note the conversion rate and checking date without assuming the payment rate or card fee will match. Save the final amount for the selected date, party and option, not the lowest starting price on the search page.
Separate contingency from cash
A reserve covers changes such as a different transfer after disrupted plans; it is not automatically the amount to carry in cash. Work out cash needs from the payment methods each supplier actually accepts. Mark prepaid, pay-on-site and refundable amounts so the remaining budget is visible. Adjust the reserve to your itinerary’s change exposure and your circumstances instead of treating this example’s 10% as a universal rule.
