Walk in three blocks
This editorial route uses obvious landmarks rather than promising access to every market aisle or shop. Adjust to barriers, construction and the pedestrian route available on the day.
Before leaving, save your hotel name in Vietnamese and its map pin. When shopfronts distract you, one clear turnaround point is easier to follow than a long list of alleys. There is no need to cover every lane if the purpose is to enjoy the street life. If someone in your group tires, pause at a nearby cafe and decide together whether to continue. For an evening outing, do not assume a shop seen earlier will still be open; make any essential purchase while you know it is trading.

The market is a workplace
