Separate the season from your date
Do not treat the Similans as a destination available on every date of the year. The period above is the normal season in official information, not confirmation of a particular reopening departure. Near either boundary, retain the park notice and the operator’s written answer, then check again before your hotel cancellation deadline. For a long-distance visit, leave a land-based alternative day if the sea trip cannot operate. A spare date in your itinerary does not itself give you the right to change a paid tour for free.
| Booking gate | Required answer |
|---|---|
| Date | Park access and departure on the selected day |
| Departure | Hotel pickup time, actual pier and road journey |
| Product | Day snorkelling or a separate diving product |
| Cost | Park fee for your visitor category and pickup extras |
The tour starts and ends at your hotel
Check whether “from Phuket” means boarding there or being collected there by road. Only after identifying the pier can you judge the morning preparation and evening return. Request the time you leave the hotel and an estimated return window, not merely the boat’s departure time. Avoid attaching a fixed evening reservation or flight home to an advertised return that may be only an estimate. If considering a move to Khao Lak, compare luggage handling and changed accommodation costs as well as any reduction in driving.
Judge the vessel and your own needs
“Speedboat” and “catamaran” are not guarantees about motion or comfort. Request actual vessel photographs, passenger numbers, shade, toilets and the ladder used to climb back aboard when wet. Non-swimmers and travellers needing mobility assistance should ask about waiting arrangements and available help. If pregnancy, back problems or motion sickness are concerns, check operator restrictions first and seek individual medical advice where appropriate; do not choose medication or dosage from a travel article. The balance of island time and travel time should also match the holiday you want.
Make one final booking record
Send the seller your date, group, hotel and applicable visitor category, then obtain a total including park charges. Confirm required identity information and the submission method, but do not post passport details in public chats or through unclear links. Keep the booking number to avoid accidentally purchasing the same outing through another channel. A snorkelling day trip and a multi-day diving product are not equivalent options. Do not extend the restriction on sleeping on the islands into an unsupported claim about every liveaboard; check the separate product’s permissions and conditions.
- Check official season and your sailing separately
- Obtain hotel-to-hotel timing and boarding conditions
- Save entry charges, identity submission and cancellation rules
